We need your voice: This mammoth new coal mine cannot go ahead

Aerial views of the Hunter Valley Operations.

This is one of the biggest coal mine expansions New South Wales has ever seen - and we still have a chance to stop it.

The NSW Independent Planning Commission has approved the Hunter Valley Operations coal mine extension near Singleton, allowing mining to continue until 2045.

The project would release more than seven times NSW’s annual climate pollution.

This will worsen the climate impacts already being felt through extreme heat, bushfires and floods.

Australia's future prosperity will come from the industries of tomorrow, not by doubling down on the pollution of the past.

The good news is this decision is not the end of the road - The project still requires federal environmental approval.

That means we can still act!

Workers and regional communities deserve serious, funded transition planning, secure industries and lasting employment—not a false choice between jobs today and a liveable future tomorrow.

Add your name today and call on the Federal Government not to approve this project.  Share the petition with your friends and family. Every signature helps send a clear message: no more climate-wrecking coal expansions.
