You may have seen recent media speculation about the future of the Community Independent movement, and the recent announcement about the creation of a new party (Community Strong Australia)
With the political landscape changing rapidly, it’s a conversation that needs to be had. Recent changes to donation laws will make it harder for independents to successfully challenge the major parties in future elections. At the same time, the Coalition is struggling to present itself as a credible Opposition or alternative government.
It’s important that I hear from you, the constituents of Mackellar, about the best way forward for our community.

A note on terms
- Independent - a locally elected MP with no affiliation to any party or alliance.
- Formal Alliance - a more formal arrangement where Independents work together to develop comprehensive policy platforms on core issues such as climate action, integrity and equity. Each MP remains free to vote according to their community's interests.
- Party - a registered political party under the Australian Electoral Commission, with a formal structure, rules, and membership requirements.
