If all of Parliament was listening what would you say?
Imagine yourself as a newly elected Member of the House of Representatives. Your task is to write a 90-second speech about issues you are passionate about.
This competition is open to all students from Years 10 to 12, and the winners from each year group will be invited to Canberra to deliver their speeches in the House of Representatives.
“Just because students can’t vote doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be heard. Our democracy must work for them too. This is an opportunity for young people to have a say and share their vision for the future of our country,” Dr Scamps shared.
Entries close 15 September 2025. More information is available at My First Speech Competition – Make your first speech.
Good luck!
