My policy - cutting company tax for small business
As a community independent I listen to your concerns. In my last business survey I heard your frustrations with the onerous taxes and paperwork forced on you by all levels of government. This week I launched my policy to cut small business tax.
I am pushing for a tax-free threshold of $20,000 for all businesses with an annual turnover of less than $10 million. This could reduce your tax bill by up to $5,000 a year to invest in innovation, staffing or to provide some much needed cost-of-living relief.
See my speech in here in Canberra launching this vital initiative and requesting the Government to act on it. Please join me in calling on the Government to better support you and your business by signing my petition here.
I have also been leading the charge to cut red tape by changing the definition of small business from 15 to 25 employees. This change is supported by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Small businesses don't have the same resources as large corporations, so why are small business owners burdened by the same restrictions? Read more here on how a change to the definition could help you.
Finally, the $20,000 small business instant asset right off scheme is set to end on 30 June. Why? I am urging the Government to continue to support this into the new tax year and ongoing. You are the backbone of our community and I am here to act on your concerns and issues.

The business of beauty - support for you and your clients
As business owners and workers within the beauty industry, hairdressers, barbers and beauticians are more than service providers, they are trusted advisers and confidants. They listen to the highs and lows of our lives, offering a compassionate ear. As a community we often take their kindness for granted. I would like to ensure they get the help and support they deserve, so I will be hosting:
The Business of Beauty : Tea, Talk and Tips

Narrabeen SLSC

- How to grow and protect their business through a better awareness of all the government grants and supports available, including mental health resources, cyber security support, free marketing webinars and much more.
- Ways to help these businesses support their clients and community by understanding how as your federal MP’s my office can help with ATO, NDIS, NBN, ATO, immigration, Centrelink, and Medicare issues.
Special guest, star hairdresser and salon owner Paloma will share how she balances motherhood, business and her own advocacy work.
If you are a hairdresser, barber or beautician please join me, or forward this email to anyone in the industry who might like to attend.
Trading online? Digital Platform Hub resources
The NSW Small Business Commission has launched a new Digital Platforms Hub to help small businesses that depend on digital platforms, such as online marketplaces and other online services. The new Digital Platforms Hub includes:
- A guide for small businesses to help get the most out of digital platforms
- Pathways to access support from the NSW Small Business Commission when encountering challenges or disputes
- Model practices and procedures to promote improved experiences for small businesses
Digital platforms can help take small businesses to the next level and offer many benefits when advertising, selling and engaging customers. However, the Commission has received an increasing number of contacts from businesses reporting difficulties when navigating digital platforms. Common challenges include unclear terms and conditions, payment delays and unexpected account suspensions.
The Commission’s Digital Platforms Hub has been developed to increase awareness of some of the challenges and risks, but also to encourage digital platforms to offer the best possible experience for small businesses.

Australia's new Small Business Strategy
Focusing on small business – Australia’s 2025 strategy
The National Small Business Strategy is the first of its kind. It outlines how governments will work together to support Australian small businesses.
It is a framework for collaboration to:
• Promote small businesses in government decision making
• Support existing work in states and territories
• Inform policy making to deliver better outcomes
The federal, state and territory governments worked together to create the strategy.
