My question is for the Attorney-General. This morning I introduced a bill to end the jobs for mates culture in federal politics. Having abolished the AAT because of rampant cronyism and having announced a review into public board appointments, it appears the Government agrees this is a major integrity problem. Without a legislated and independent process, like I have proposed in my bill, how can the government guarantee that any future appointments to public institutions will not end up as more jobs for mates?
