I’d love to hear your thoughts on the future of the Community Independent movement.
With major parties stitching up a deal to change electoral laws that will make it harder for Independents to get elected, paired with a rapidly changing political landscape - important questions are being asked about what the future of the Community Independent movement could look like.
For a few years now people have been bringing ideas to me about how they feel the movement should move forward. Options include;
- remaining as an individual independent
- forming a stronger alliance with other community independents
- or even forming a party - albeit one that is different from traditional parties and retains strong community participation and the ability for MPs to always vote in line with the values of their community.
Thank you to everyone who has already shared their views through our community consultation survey. If you haven't had a chance to complete it yet, I'd encourage you to have your say here:
But I'd love to have a deeper conversation and hear your thoughts in person with a good old kitchen table conversation with the people who helped build this movement.
